Rex’s Story

I first met Rex in October 2021, after he enthusiastically sought a job with Madison Stitch -- "I CAN'T believe I hadn't heard of you guys before! I must work here." He had graduated from the local Art Institute in textile and fiber art, was active in the local fashion industry, and he had experience working with leather. He seemed like a perfect fit to help with our goal to grow Madison Stitch, and he proved that assumption correct throughout the year. He understands design and production processes, how to maintain our complex sewing machines, and brings such happy, high energy to the studio I have trouble keeping up.

He's well-connected in the local fashion scene, and has helped Madison Stitch as it starts collaborating with other local fashion companies like MADI Apparel, Do Good Company, and the West 18th Street Fashion Show. He developed our “swag" bag” for the VIPs at the local fashion show, and helped design our bucket bag while managing the studio and production processes. His connections have helped bring perspective to our goal to become the leading local boutique for hand-made fashion bags -- we know what it will take with his help, and he's happy to help Madison Stitch get there.

Rex eventually became the on site fashion designer for Do Good Company, which focuses on up-cycling vintage clothing and fabric. We at Madison Stitch welcome him to his new role and wish him the best of luck!
